Chinese Tea: What you should know
The varieties of Chinese teas that are available are truly mind boggling, and
there are many different types that have been grown during each of the
Chinese dynasties over the thousands of years of China's great History. The
Chinese people are in fact known to have been enjoying tea for more than
4,000 years now, and legend even has it that Yan Di, one of three major
rulers in China's ancient times, tasted all kinds of herbs in order to find
medical cures.
As the story goes, one day he was poisoned by an herb that he had tested.
He was given a drop of water from a tea tree and he was saved.
Chinese tea as a drink began to prosper during reign of the Tang Dynasty.
Tea shops became incredibly popular during this time, and were being
opened as fast as they could be. Chinese tea is incredibly popular today,
perhaps even more so because there are people all over the world who
drink Chinese tea, as opposed to just the people of China, as it was in
ancient times.
The materials for basic types of tea are only that of the fresh tea leaves that are picked from the tea plants at
different stages of growth. According to different processing methods and different oxidation degrees of the
poly-phenols, basic tea types would include that of the following 6 types: green tea, black tea, white tea,
oolong (wulong) tea, yellow tea, and dark tea.
In regards to Chinese tea types in the China trade industry, Chinese tea can basically be classified into 7
types: white tea, green tea, black tea, oolong (wulong) tea,compressed tea, flavored tea, and instant tea. It is
also further divided into 2 basic groups: the basic tea group and the reprocessed tea group
On the other hand, in regards to the reprocessed tea group, this refers to any of the basic teas that have
materials that are used in the reprocessing stages of tea making, and sometimes other additional materials
are added as well. With the different processing methods, the reprocessed tea group is classified as the
following: scented teas, extracted teas, fruit flavored teas, spiced teas, compressed teas, health teas, and
so on.
There are so many different placed to purchase tea: on the internet, the grocery store, supermarkets, and
heatlh food stores, and you can usually find them for an incredibly reasonable price. If you have not tried
some of these teas, you really need to, the health benefits and advantages that you receive from them are
great.
